Step 3: Complete Placement Assessment
If you plan to earn a degree or certificate, or transfer to a 4-year institution, LCC needs to assess your skill level before you register for classes. Don't be worried about the assessment process. It will simply help you start college at the right level. The COMPASS placement assessment will test your math, reading, writing and study skills. You will get your scores right away and your advisor will use your scores to help you plan your class schedule.
If you have already taken the placement assessment within the last two years, either at Lower Columbia College or at a different college, you may use those test scores at LCC. We accept COMPASS and ASSET scores. You will need to contact the college where the test was taken, request a copy of your scores, and bring them with you to your advising session.
