Information about the disbursal of your financial aid check if you are eligible to receive one, and how to make sure your address is correct.
If you are eligible to receive additional financial aid funds after your tuition and fees are paid, your financial aid check will generally be processed and mailed to the mailing address on file, 3 – 5 days before the first day of classes. However, this is not a guarantee. Students should be prepared for a check delay as long as 2 weeks after the quarter begins and in some cases, even longer.
If you are eligible to receive additional financial aid funds after your tuition and fees are paid, but did not complete your financial aid file by the ApplicationDeadline, it is not likely you will receive a check for at least 3 - 6 weeks from the date your file was completed. However, this is not a guarantee, and is dependent on peak processing times.
Other reasons your financial aid check may not be available. Read each reason to determine why your check may not be available the first day.
Loan checks are usually processed and mailed separately from grant aid. This is because LCC is required to obtain approval from the Department of Education before your loan can be disbursed.
If you are owed additional funds after the quarter begins, those checks will be mailed to you as well.
LCC must have your current mailing address on file in order to mail your financial aid check.
Alternatively, update your address in person at the Registration Office.
Be sure to update your full address, including apt. # (if applicable) and zip code. If you live in an apartment your name must be on the mailbox or the postal service will not deliver your check. This is a US Post Office rule and is not controlled by LCC.
You are responsible for keeping your mailing address updated at all times.
