All LCC students and staff are welcome to join.

Who are we?
You may have seen us practicing in the quad or on the Student Center stage when the weather is poor. Some of our members are new and just learning to fence. Others work on improving their fencing skills and attend fencing competitions in the Northwest.

Fencing Times
Our Winter schedule will be daily from 2:40 - 4:00 (later if we have the time and energy!)

Equipment
Comfortable clothes that allow you to move around quickly and shoes with good traction.  Most fencing equipment, such as masks and jackets, will be provided.

Red Devil Duel!
Congratulations to all LCC fencers. Andrew Greig took 4th of 35 foil fencers and John Scharfenburg took 4th of 18 epee fencers. For team honors, LCC took 1st place in epee and 2nd place in foil. Other schools at the competition were University of Oregon, University of Puget Sound, Portland State University, University of Washington, and Clark CC.

Competitions
LCC's Fencing Club competed in its first tournament on February 24, 2007 at Reed College in Portland. Our saber team (Doug Carter, Andrew Greig, and Jacob Rintoul, front row in the team picture below) took first place, competing against teams from Reed and the University of Oregon. Our foil team (Zach Greig, Corwyn Kiger, and David Meyers back row in team picture) took second place in a much larger field of teams.

Last year we took a record number of people to tournaments and traveled our furthest yet to attend a tournament.  We have a competition coming up on Jan. 23rd.  It will be sponsored by the University of Oregon and will feature all three Olympic weapons.

Fencing Rules and Regulations
The 2008 Rule Book and the 2009 updates for fencing is a great place to learn the rules (complete with the Penalty Chart). The USFA Referee Handbook is another source for anyone interested in participating in the fencing club.
