Step 2: Access Financial Aid Information and Applications

Before you can get need-based Financial Aid, you need to fill out the FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Gather up your tax forms and other income support documents and apply for the FAFSA- Free Application for Federal Student Aid. LCC's federal school code is 003782.
Next, fill out the 2008-09 Personal Data Sheet and you're on your way.

Types of Financial Aid

  • Scholarships
    It's not as hard as you might think to get scholarships. LCC awards more than $300,000 in scholarships each year. They're based on many different criteria, so don't assume you don't qualify. Scholarship Applications
  • Grants
    Several different types of federal and state grants available to students.
  • Work-Study
    Get a job on or off campus and receive a regular paycheck. Jobs are listed on HireConnections.
  • Loans
    Loans should be your last resort for financial aid, but if you need a student loan, we can help you apply.
  • American Opportunity Tax Credit
    Expands and renames the existing Hope Tax Credit, can be claimed for tuition and certain fees paid for higher education in 2009 and 2010. > Q & A from IRS.gov. More information about American Opportunity Tax Credit.
  • Veterans Services
    Provides guidance to veterans about eligibility requirements and the processes needed to access educational benefits under the GI Bill, including the Post-9/11 GI Bill. Learn more about Veterans Services.
  • Worker Retraining
    Unemployed and underemployed workers, as well as displaced homemakers, are eligible for special funding and other aid. Learn more about Worker Retraining.
