Nearly 40% of Lower Columbia College's service district population lives outside the greater Longview/Kelso area, which poses transportation, financial and other barriers for some students.
Dual enrollment programs are available to high school students in rural areas in an effort to increase access to college. Each program allows students to earn high school and college credits at the same time.

Three schools and two community centers have created dedicated computer lab space for dual enrollment students participating in online and hybrid Running Start and Oregon Option courses. Students do not have to drive to the LCC campus every day.
