Dual Enrollment and Rural Outreach Options

Nearly 40% of Lower Columbia College's service district population lives outside the greater Longview/Kelso area, which poses transportation, financial and other barriers for some students.

Dual Enrollment Programs

Dual enrollment programs are available to high school students in rural areas in an effort to increase access to college. Each program allows students to earn high school and college credits at the same time.

College in the High School

Reduced cost college-level courses taught by high school instructors with oversight by college faculty. Contact your high school for more information.

Career and Technical Education

Free college-level professional-technical courses taught by high school instructors via contract with LCC. Contact your high school for more information.

Running Start

Enrollment in college classes for dual high school and college credit for qualifying students. Contact the LCC Running Start Coordinator at 360.442.2352 for more information or see Running Start.

Oregon Option

Enrollment in college classes for dual high school and college credit for students at participating Oregon high schools. Contact your high school for more information.

Rural Outreach Centers

Three schools and two community centers have created dedicated computer lab space for dual enrollment students participating in online and hybrid Running Start and Oregon Option courses. Students do not have to drive to the LCC campus every day.
