GPA for Placement at Lower Columbia College

If you graduated in the last 10 years and you completed Algebra 2 or higher with a C or better, then you may be able to place into college level math using your cumulative high school GPA! See below for more details.


Did you graduate high school in the last 5 years?

If you did not complete or pass Algebra 2 or higher with a C or better and had a GPA below 2.0, then you can enroll into one of the following:

  • Math 78 Pre-College Math I

If you completed Algebra 2 with a C or higher, and your cumulative high school GPA was ≥ 2.0, then you can enroll into one of the following:

  • MATH 88 Pre-College Math II
  • MATH 87 Essentials of Pre-College Math
  • BUS 104 Business Math
  • MATH 105 Math for Health Sciences
  • MATH 106 Industrial Math

If you completed Algebra 2 with a C or higher, and your ​cumulative high school GPA was ≥ 2.6​, then you can enroll in one of the following:

  • MATH 098 Pre-College Math III
  • MATH& 107 Math in Society
  • MATH& 131 ​Math for Elementary Teachers I
  • MATH& 146 Introduction to Statistics

If you completed Algebra 2 with a C or higher, and your cumulative high school GPA was ≥ 3.0, then you can enroll in one of the following:

  • MATH 125 Applied College Algebra
  • MATH& 141 Precalculus 

Note: For the Summer/Fall 2020 quarters, GPA requirements were adjusted for COVID graduates to 2.8 and 3.2


Did you graduate high school in the last 6-10 years?

If you did not complete or pass Algebra 2 or higher with a C or better and had a GPA below 2.6, then you can enroll into one of the following:

  • Math 78 Pre-College Math I

If you completed Algebra 2 with a C or higher, and your cumulative high school GPA was ≥ 2.0, then you can enroll into one of the following:

  • MATH 88 Pre-College Math II
  • MATH 87 Essentials of Pre-College Math
  • BUS 104 Business Math
  • MATH 105 Math for Health Sciences
  • MATH 106 Industrial Math

If you completed Algebra 2 with a C or higher, and your ​cumulative high school GPA was ≥ 3.0​, then you can enroll in one of the following:

  • MATH 098 Pre-College Math III
  • MATH& 107 Math in Society
  • MATH& 131 ​Math for Elementary Teachers I
  • MATH& 146 Introduction to Statistics

If you completed Algebra 2 with a C or higher, and your cumulative high school GPA was ≥ 3.5, then you can enroll in one of the following:

  • MATH 125 Applied College Algebra
  • MATH& 141 Precalculus
