If you enjoy working with your hands and are interested in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems, LCC's diesel program might be for you. Any company that uses trucks, heavy equipment, tractors, boats or pumps needs employees with the skills provided in this program. With a strong emphasis on fluid power, this program is one of only a few accepted for membership in the National Fluid Power Association. In this program, you can also prepare to test for your Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and enter a career that is in high demand.
The diesel and heavy equipment technology path can lead to a variety of careers with competitive salaries and advancement opportunities.
Certificate and degree options
Students who attend full-time can earn a diesel/heavy equipment preventative maintenance certificate in three quarters (one academic year) and an associate degree in diesel/heavy equipment technology in three additional quarters (two academic years total). Students in this program also have the opportunity to earn a commercial truck driving certificate while preparing to earn a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). cdl@lowercolumbia.edu

Use the skills you gain in this program to enter an apprenticeship pathway with machinists-boilermakers, operating engineers, machinists and aerospace workers, industrial maintenance millwright, steamfitters and pipefitters, or ironworkers.
