For Immediate Release
September 30, 2014
Monsters in Our Midst is the theme for Lower Columbia College’s Fall 2014 Community Conversations series.
The free, one-hour presentation and discussion sessions begin at noon each Thursday, October 2 through December 4, in the Rose Center for the Arts Wollenberg Auditorium.
This quarter's speakers are all LCC faculty members from a wide range of academic disciplines. Each presentation/discussion will focus on monsters related to a specific field of study.
The first presentation will be, Mirror, Mirror: Why Heroes Make the Best Villains.
In popular culture and science fiction the scariest monsters are often heroes that turn to the dark side. Inspired by the classic Star Trek episode, "Mirror, Mirror", the discussion will focus on heroes that go bad. Issues of frame of reference and trust will be included in the discussion.
