High school students and recent graduates have a lot of options when it comes to math and English placement.

If you are currently enrolled in high school, or are a recent graduate of a Washington state high school (within the last ten years), and you plan to attend Lower Columbia College, you may be eligible for alternative placement. Scroll below to review your options.

Math Placement Options

Bridge to College

If you completed a full credit of Bridge to College Math in High School, and earned a B or better, and it has been  ≤ 2 years since you graduated, then you may be eligible for college-level math. Please submit your transcript to:Testing@lowercolumbia.edu

Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBAC)

High school students who graduated from a Washington State high school within the last year may be eligible for direct placement into an LCC College Level Math course with SBAC scores.

High School Math Transfer Agreement (HSTA)

Lower Columbia College maintains agreements with the high schools in Cowlitz, Columbia, and Wahkiakum Counties regarding math placement for current high school students and recent high school graduates.

GPA Math Placement

If you completed Algebra 2 or higher with a C or better sometime in the last ten years, you may be eligible for direct math placement into a college level math course at Lower Columbia College.

College in the High School

If you successfully completed college level math courses while enrolled at your high school, you can transfer those credits to LCC.

Advanced Placement (AP) Course Credit

LCC grants credit in several subject areas for students who have obtained a qualifying score on the College Board Advanced Placement examinations.

Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) Math Scores

High School graduates who completed an SAT exam within the last year, and earned a score of 550 and above, are eligible for direct placement into Non-STEM College Level Math course.


English Placement Options
