Strategic Initiative: Simplify our onboarding, advising and related support services to get and keep more students, including those from historically underrepresented groups and vulnerable populations, on the path to completion.

Planning Category Annual Priorities
  • Finalize production of an annual schedule.
  • Identify and partner with culturally specific organizations and community leaders to better understand and support the needs of underrepresented students.
  • Build sustainable multicultural outreach to assist with developing key strategies, and planning and delivering events.
  • Create events that encourage community building and sense of belonging, such as Multicultural Grad Night, learning communities, specialized programming, mentoring, etc.
  • Analyze data regarding barriers to onboarding and retaining underrepresented student populations.
Student & Community Engagement
  • Improve timely and effective communication with students regarding financial aid, transfer, and other services and resources.
  • Develop a campus-wide advising model, including associated training and development.
  • Implement mandatory academic advising for all degree and certificate-seeking students.
  • Create a one-stop service area in the Admissions Building to assist students with onboarding steps and general questions, and to serve as a student retention hub.
  • Create a one-desk model in the Learning Commons to streamline student access to academic support and resources.
  • Continue to plan for student study-space needs.
  • Implement (EAB) Navigate’s advising and onboarding tools, and train faculty, staff, and students to use the platform.
  • Explore implementation of a Customer Relations Management (CRM) system.
