LCC Class of 2024

Bachelor of Applied Science in Teacher Education

Haley Thompson

Haley Thompson is receiving a Bachelor of Applied Science in Teacher Education (BAS-TE). She has already gained a wealth of teaching experience in her current position at Warrenton Grade School in Oregon, and is currently applying for teaching positions in San Diego where she's headed after graduation.

Haley is continuing on to a master's in education program at Western Governors University, and hopes to gain some additional experience as an elementary education teacher before becoming a mentor teacher or children's literacy specialist.

In addition to her love of children, Haley also enjoys gardening, horticulture and botany, hiking, and crafting. She is preparing to run her first half marathon.

Haley is grateful for the hands-on experience and genuineness of her LCC instructors, and the closeness of her BAS-TE cohort. The support she received while at LCC fueled her passion for teaching, especially helping children blossom and grow into their potential.

About Scholastic Achievement Awards

Lower Columbia College does not designate a valedictorian. Instead, we recognize three students with the highest grade point averages and most rigorous coursework in the following categories: baccalaureate, academic transfer, and professional/technical. Honorees are recognized during commencement.
