Class of 2017: Nursing

“Just take classes and be willing to work hard. Find a few friends who are taking similar classes and study with them, be thankful for the opportunity to go to school, and most importantly, learn from your mistakes.”

The academic rigor of LCC’s Nursing Program is not for everyone, but Sofie Shulda makes it look relatively easy.

Sofie is graduating this spring with an Associate in Nursing – Direct Transfer degree. She has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average along the way.

She is one of four Scholastic Achievement Award recipients from the Class of 2017. During a pinning ceremony earlier in the year, Sofie also received an Excellence in Nursing Award.

The Nursing Program at LCC was an amazing experience for Sofie, who says she highly recommends it.

“Just take classes and be willing to work hard,” she said. “Find a few friends who are taking similar classes and study with them, be thankful for the opportunity to go to school, and most importantly, learn from your mistakes.”

Sofie credits LCC faculty members Amber Lemiere, Rhonda Meyers, Lucas Myers, Kathy Stafford and Annette Ward with helping her succeed.

“All my instructors at LCC were awesome,” she said.

When Sofie isn’t busy studying, she volunteers with middle school girls through a local youth group.
