Dr. Louis LaPierre, Environmental Science and Biology faculty member, hopes the garden will continue to be the anchor of a movement to create a more edible campus, including fruit trees and shrubs planted throughout the campus. He emphasizes the garden's interdisciplinary value for instruction, but also sees it as a way to engage the community and emphasize sustainability principles.

LCC's Fork & Flame Cafe features fresh garden veggies in the salad bar from our Very own Richard Kelley Learning and Healing Garden. LCC food services has also implimented methods of tray-less dining, food composting, and a commitment to increase local and organic food purchses each year. 

Lower Columbia College offers recycling bins across campus including options to recycle plastics, metals, paper and other recyclable items (batteries and toner cartridges). As a college there can be a lot of paper consumption; you can help by recycling the used resources. 

In order to reduce emmissions associated with transportation and increase transportation efficiency LCC accomidates for multiple low emission forms of transportation.

Lower Columbia College is committed to reducing its total waste stream while increasing the percentage of recycling across all categories including:
