Independent Living

As an alternative to living with a host family, many LCC international students choose to live independently, or with roommates, in an apartment or house. There are several units available within walking distance of the campus, as well as bus service for those who choose to live further away. All LCC students receive a free bus pass.

Lower Columbia College International Programs staff will assist with finding and setting up the rental of an apartment or house, but it is the responsibility of the student(s) and/or parents to pay the monthly rent.

The average one bedroom apartment/house in the Longview/Kelso area rents for about $600-$700 a month. Depending on the lease, students may also be responsible for paying utilities, cable, and Internet separately.

Renters must be 18 years of age or older. If you are a first time renter you may be required to have your parents co-sign the lease.
