Student and community musicians with strong performance and music reading skills may audition to join the LCC Symphonic Band.

Students enroll for credit in MUSC 150 (2 Credits). Community musicians enroll via LCC Continuing Education. The LCC Symphonic Band performs in concert at the end of each quarter and at the annual Commencement Ceremony.


Audition Requirements

A brief audition and interview are required for entry. Woodwind, brass, and percussion players are encouraged to audition.

Audition materials

  • Two-octave ascending and descending majors scales in all keys up to 4 sharps and 4 flats
  • Two short, contrasting works of your choice (may be études, solos or portions thereof, orchestral excerpts, etc.).
  • Sight Reading.

About the Music Program

LCC choirs and bands perform in a concert at the end of each quarter to showcase their musical talents for friends, family and musical patrons from the community. Additional opportunities exist throughout the year for campus performances.

Concert Choir

LCC's traditional choir performs a holiday concert, a traditional choral concert, and a musical revue concert each year.

Show Choir

LCC's song and dance choir focuses on jazz and musical theatre repertoire.

Jazz Band

Fast-paced and soulful compositions that spotlight the sounds of every instrument in this energetic band foster the musical talents of LCC performers while drawing appreciative applause at concerts and community events.

Symphonic Band

Gain large ensemble experience while performing with long-time musicians from the community and top student performers building their skills.
