Disability and Access Services (DAS) is committed to providing equal opportunity accommodations
for qualified students with disabilities in accordance with:
To be approved for accommodations, a student must meet with the Director of Disability
and Access Services, self-disclose their disability, conduct an intake interview,
and provide formal documentation of their disability.
Once approved for services, the student must request accommodations each and every
quarter they wish to use accommodations. DAS provide many accommodations and auxiliary
aids with little faculty involvement such as braille books, audio books, quiet testing
with reader/scribe, sign language interpreters, enlarged materials, placement of ergonomic
equipment, and various assistive technology and software. We do look to faculty to
implement some key accommodations and appreciate your effort to ensure an accessible
environment for your students.
Faculty Notification
Faculty will be notified by email when a student has qualified for accommodation.
The information included explains the specific accommodation, not the actual disability. Please confirm and tell us if you need clarification as soon as possible. Instructors
will be notified when the student requests accommodation. Students are encouraged
to request accommodations 4-6 weeks prior to each quarter, but can request accommodations
at any point in time.
If a student approaches you about accommodations and you have not received official
notice, please refer the student to the DAS office. Either the student has not yet
requested accommodations or the student has not gone through the initial DAS process.
