Letter to the Campus on LCC's Core Values

Issued: February 2, 2017

Dear LCC Students, Faculty and Staff,

As you may know, President Trump signed an executive order last Friday that bans certain refugees and immigrants from entering the United States.

We want to let you know that all students, including our international students, immigrant students, students who are undocumented, and students covered under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), are welcome at LCC.

LCC Core Values state that our campus community expects an environment of integrity, respect, collaboration, cooperation, inclusion and innovation that fosters personal growth, academic excellence, and accountability. LCC remains committed to these values and to ensuring that they are upheld.

Current LCC students from the affected countries, or others who are concerned about difficulties returning to the United States, may want to consider delaying international travel to ensure they can maintain participation in their classes. Please take a few minutes to review this notification from the Washington State Attorney General – Labor and Personnel Division for more information about the ban and those who should avoid international travel.

International students are encouraged to contact the International Programs office with any particular questions or concerns.

We will continue to welcome and serve undocumented students, who are eligible to apply for admission at LCC or any other public college or university in the State of Washington. Per HB 1079, also known as the REAL Hope Act or Dream Act, undocumented students can also apply for financial aid.

Thank you for continuing to make LCC an incredible place to learn and work.

Sincerely,

The LCC Executive Leadership Team

Chris Bailey, President

Brendan Glaser, Vice President of Instruction

Wendy Hall, Associate Vice President of Effectiveness & College Relations

Sue Orchard, Vice President of Student Services

Kendra Sprague, Vice President of Foundation, Human Resources & Legal Affairs
