The Essay Questions give you an opportunity to describe your life experiences, achievements, challenges, and your personal, academic, and career goals.

Be thoughtful. These are worth the most points in the scoring of your application.

The questions are:

  1. What field of study or major are you pursuing at LCC? Describe your educational goals and your future career goals.
  2. Describe activities that you have been engaged in (e.g. work experience / volunteering / clubs / organizations / sports). Talk about why they were important to you and how they might relate to your studies at LCC.
  3. Have you faced any challenges in pursuing a college education? Describe any significant obstacles you have encountered and steps you have taken to overcome them.

Essay Tip! Compose your responses beforehand in a Word document and then copy and paste into your online scholarship application. You can use them for other scholarship opportunities!

Essay Tip! Spelling and grammar count! Ask someone to proofread your responses and give you feedback. Your responses help tell the Scholarship Committee who you are. This is your opportunity to show that you're a strong and serious candidate who will make a positive difference of this investment in your future.

Collect electronic versions of your transcripts (or get hard copies and scan them).

Follow the directions in the "attach documents" portion of your online application. If you need help there is a scanner available for student use in the Career and Employment office at the LCC Admissions Center.

Some scholarships require a recommendation.

These specific recommendation requests will be available with the individual opportunity. There is also an optional LCC Recommendation Form available in the general application. Recommendations are sent and received via email. Responses will be uploaded directly to your LCC Scholarship application. The recommendation will not be viewable by students, but will show applicants whether the request has been completed or not.

This list consists of the scholarships the system thinks you may be eligible for.

Simply review and answer the supplemental questions and then click "Finish and submit".
