Chase Hunter
Class of 2017: Computer & Electric Pre-Engineering
When he’s not focusing on academics (which isn’t very often), Chase keeps busy tending the sheep, pigs, chickens and turkeys on his family’s farm.
Thanks to a little known state law, standout grad Chase Hunter will receive his associate degree and high school diploma simultaneously from LCC.
Chase Hunter is one of four Scholastic Achievement Award winners being recognized by Lower Columbia College for exceptional academic achievement during the 2017 Commencement Ceremony. He will graduate with Highest Honors.
Chase is a Running Start student from Kelso High School. He has maintained a 4.0 grade point average at LCC, and is earning his associate degree in Computer and Electric Pre-Engineering. Because he wanted to focus on math and engineering courses instead of high school requirements, Chase opted to earn his diploma from LCC along with his degree. He can do this thanks for a Washington State law that allows associate degree recipients to opt to receive a high school diploma from the community college in which they're enrolled.
Chase is headed to the University of Washington in the fall, where he hopes to get a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and ultimately work in the high-tech industry. He is particularly interested in in Nano Molecular Engineering.
