LCC Class of 2026: Scholastic Achievement Award winner

Gia Han Huynh – Associate in Pre-Nursing & Associate of Science in Biological Sciences

Gia Han Huynh achieved a historic milestone at LCC as the institution’s first international student to receive a Scholastic Achievement Award, awarded in the academic transfer pathway category.

Gia Han has pursued a rigorous parallel academic track, earning an Associate degree in Pre-Nursing in 2026 while simultaneously fulfilling requirements for an Associate of Science in Biological Sciences. Driven by a long-term vision of attending medical school, she aims to dedicate her future career to advanced medical research, with a specific focus on cancer biology.

While maintaining a perfect academic record, Gia Han fully engaged with campus life. She gave back to her peers as a microbiology mentor and a Learning Commons tutor. She also expanded her horizons as a student researcher with Chemistry Instructor Armando Herbelin’s Bee Project (which studies signal processing in honey bees) and learned American Sign Language.

When she’s not studying, Gia Han enjoys kite flying and science fiction.
