For Skyler White, the road to higher education required overcoming profound personal obstacles. Having navigated the foster care system, childhood poverty, homelessness, and addiction, Skyler stands as a proud example of resilience, celebrating nine years of sobriety and recovery.
When he was struck by a vehicle in 2021, prompting a career change away from the construction industry, Skyler didn't back down—he pivoted. He enrolled at LCC, determinedly earning both his high school diploma and an Associate Degree in Accounting in 2024. Even while balancing the immense responsibilities of home life, volunteering, and working up to three jobs at a time, he maintained a flawless 4.0 GPA.
A first-generation college graduate, Skyler earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Leadership and Technical Management in 2026 and landed a prestigious Scholastic Achievement Award in the bachelor’s degree program category—LCC’s top academic honor.
After graduation and his impending wedding, Skyler plans to relocate and leverage his leadership skills and compassion to champion and support the workforce from the ground up.
