Hayley's Comet Wins NWAACC Title

Hayley Ridout hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday, giving the LCC Red Devils a 7-5 victory over the Mount Hood Saints. In a classic title game, Mount Hood scored two runs in the top of the 9th to take the 5-3 lead, but LCC came back to load the bases, setting the stage for Ridout's towering grand salami to left field. Carri O'Neil got the victory, pitching all nine innings of the championship game. O'Neil was named the tournament MVP. Read the game story in The Daily News and Rick McCorkle's follow up piece

Devils Ready to Defend
The Lower Columbia College softball team will open up defense of their NWAACC championship this Friday morning against Walla Walla. Rick McCorkle penned a preview story in The Daily News

Four Signees on Board

Kendall Grant
of W.F. West in Chehalis is the latest prep star to sign a committment to join the Devils in 2009. Grant is a speed merchant who will make things happen for the Devils

Emily Sinclair of W.F. West of Chehalis signed a letter of intent to join NWAACC-power Lower Columbia. Sinclair is a RHP with all the pitches.

Sequim High School star Yolanda Chinn (below) also signed a latter of intent. Chinn is a multi-sport star for the Wolves and will provide a power bat and athleticsm to the 2009 Devils.

LCC also welcomes pitcher Aly Rae from Port Angeles High School, a talented lefty hurler who can bring the heat.

It was the 10th softball championship in school history, all under the leadership of Coach Tim Mackin.
