CHAD MEADORS, Head Coach
Chad Meadors begins his third season as the head coach of the Red Devils. His first two campaigns were successful as he took the team to a West title and two NWAACC tourney appearances.
Meadors, 37, led the Stayton High School girls basketball team to the Oregon 4A championship in March of 2007. He was the Eagles head coach for five seasons. Meadors also served one season as the boys assistant coach at Stayton and also gained experience as an assistant at North Marion High, Woodburn High and Kennedy HS in Mount Angel. Meadors also served as the head baseball coach for two seasons at Woodburn.
Meadors also serves Lower Columbia College students as an education planner with an emphasis on student persistence.
Meadors graduated from North Marion High School where he was a baseball player for the Huskies. He continued his baseball playing career at Chemeketa College and then Clackamas College. He then owned his own cattle ranch in Aurora, Oregon before being drawn back into education and coaching. Meadors earned his BS degree in Political Science at Western Oregon University in 2000 right before being hired to teach at Stayton High. He then took over as the Stayton Head Coach were he steadily led the Eagles to prominence, capped off by the State 4A title in '07.
Meadors is the 10th head coach in the history of women’s basketball at Lower Columbia College.
Laura Hammer, Assistant Coach
Laura Hammer was born and raised in Wisconsin and comes to LCC with experiences in several sports, including soccer, basketball, and most recently cycling. Hammer has a bachelor’s degree in history and English from Purdue University, along with a master’s degree in American history, also from Purdue.
Laura played both basketball and soccer in high school before she became a three-time NCCA road cycling national qualifier for the Boilermakers and a three-time Indiana State cycling road and time trial champion. In addition to racing for the Boilermakers, Hammer also competed on an elite women’s cycling teams for Jamba Juice and Kendra Tires.
Hammer resides in Castle Rock with her husband Paul and thier daughter Lilly, 5.
Alicia Tweit, Assistant Coach
Alicia Tweit grew up in Craig, Colorado where she was a three-sport varsity athlete in cross country, basketball, and track. She was a part of numerous state titles in track and cross country, including an individual title in the 800 meter run.
After high school Alicia attended York College in York, Nebraska to play basketball. She was named MWAC player of the week twice and was part of a team that was ranked one of the top 25 in the nation at the NAIA II level.
Alicia has coached basketball at Ferndale High School in Ferndale, WA, and track at Vista Middle School also in Ferndale.
She now lives in Longview with her husband Grady and daughter Mackynlee, 4, and son Gunnar, 1.
Rand LeBaron, Assistant Coach
LeBaron joins the Red Devil coaching staff this season. He is the son of WIAA Hall of Fame Coach Floyd LeBaron of Castle Rock. Rand played for his father in 1969, leading the Rockets to the State Championship. LeBaron has a vast knowledge of the game and has been a prep assistant and AAU head coach for several seasons. He and his wife Sandy live in Longview.
Chuck Byers, Assistant Coach
Chuck is an invaluable resource and help to the LCC women's program. Byers made a name for himself as a member of the Seattle Pacific team in 1953 and 54 when he was one of the top scorers for the Falcons. His shooting exploits gave in the nickname "Automatic Charley". Chuck coached several sports at Mark Morris High School and his track and field career earned him induction into the Washington State Coaches Hall of Fame.
