Fundamentals/Caregiving

Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving

This 28-hour LCC class, offered quarterly, presents DSHS curriculum on client and caregiver rights; community resources; personal care; prevention of injury and infection; nutrition; assisting with medications; mobility needs; requirements for nurse delegation, observation and recording; and medical and physical conditions.

When you successfully complete the course, you'll receive a Washington State certificate of completion.

Modified Fundamentals

Modified Fundamentals of Caregiving

If you need modified training, Modified Fundamentals of Caregiving (AH 095) will be held Wednesday, December 19 at 1 p.m. in Applied Arts Building, room 126.  Cost: $36.26

Caregiving

Caregivers Continuing Education Caregivers are required to take 10 hours per year of Continuing Education.  Take a look at the Continuing Education class list. Other Allied Health professionals, caregivers and healthcare providers may also take these 5-hour classes, which may meet their continuing ed requirements.


Nurse Delegation

Nurse Delegation for Nursing Assistants
Licensed Registered Nurses (RNs) are allowed to transfer certain limited tasks and responsibilities to qualified Nursing Assistants in community settings. Do you know what criteria must be met in order to accept these tasks? This is a self-study course for caregivers in the state of Washington who:

  • Work in or will work in community-based long-term settings
  • Are current Nursing Assistants-Registered (NA-Rs) or Nursing Assistants-Certified (NA-Cs) or will be getting this certification before accepting delegated tasks
  • Will accept and perform tasks delegated by a Registered Nurse (RN)

Safety Training
Caregivers who work for the Southwest Washington Agency on Aging, AAA or the Human Service Council take special safety training, including Emergency preparedness and procedures, provider safety, “in home” hazards and much more.

HIV/AIDS Training

Earn Washington State certification with this 4-hour or 8-hour training to meet healthcare providers educational requirements.
Cost: $25 for 4-hour class; $50 for 8-hour class.
