About Science Olympiad
America's most exciting team science competition
For nearly 25 years, Science Olympiad has led a revolution in science education.
Lower Columbia College is proud to host the 22nd Annual SW Washington Science Olympiad Competition.
Science Olympiad provides middle and high school students from throughout SW Washington the opportunity to compete in a variety of science and engineering events.
Science Olympiad competitions are like academic track meets, consisting of a series of 23 team events for both middle and high school divisions. Events reflect the ever changing nature of genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, astronomy, mechanical engineering and technology.
Science events range from building weight-bearing devices out of wood or straws to identifying common chemical compounds. Some events are knowledge-based while others are not.
The region ranges from Centralia/Chehalis to the Washington Oregon border, and the Washington coast to the Cascades. All schools in this area will have the opportunity to participate.
