If you want a challenge and you'd like to get a jump on college, Running Start could be for you.

With Running Start, you can take college courses while you're still in high school and earn both high school and college credits.

The best part? Tuition is free!

You will need to pass reading and writing placement tests, and maintain acceptable academic standing.

Once you qualify, you can take some classes at LCC (Longview or Woodland) and some at your high school, or you can attend LCC full-time. That's up to you!

You’ll receive college credit for the courses you complete satisfactorily. And, your credits will transfer to most colleges and universities.

Your LCC credits may also apply to high school graduation. In fact, every June lots of Running Start students graduate from high school and LCC at the same time.

Running Start isn't for everyone. You need to decide if it's right for you.The decision is yours.

College isn't easy. You'll need to study more, but about 300 local high school students participate in Running Start every year. If they can do it, so can you!

Talk it over with your parents. Discuss the pros and cons. LCC needs parent or guardian permission before you start anyway, so get them involved in your decision.
