Committee Policy

The purpose of this committee is to oversee the process of choosing a winner for the three different awards given out and then present each award. 

Structure:

Chairperson – Responsibilities are, but not limited to:

  • To be elected annually
  • Opening quarterly meetings
  • Writing meeting agenda
  • Setting meeting schedule
  • Maintaining the yearly activity book
  • Establishing selection committee for classified employee of the year
  • Facilitate process by assisting committee members with yearly replacements for the next years committee.

Secretary – Responsibilities are, but not limited to:

  • Taking meeting notes and reporting minutes of previous meeting.

Advisor – Responsibilities are, but are not limited to:

  • Appointed by the president to act as a liaison between the president and the committee.
  • Conducting and tallying the vote on awards (CERC and Classified Employee of the year)
  • Not a voting member of the committee
  • Writing and submitting grant proposal for Classified Employee of the Year Award (in Spring)
  • Organizing the pin presentation (for longevity) at the fall “Welcome Back” reception
  • Purchasing frames for quarterly awards
  • Engraving for Classified Employee of the Year Award

Committee Members

  • To be comprised of 9 classified Lower Columbia College employees, including one part-time employee if possible
  • To have one vote each
  • To show a fair representation of all departments on campus
  • To attend meetings and participate in activities
  • To serve on the committee for two (2) consecutive years

Eligibility for Committee Members:

Must be full-time or part-time classifies employee of Lower Columbia College

Must have completed their probationary service time
Awards:

  • Can be nominated for the Classified Employee of the Year
  • Can’t be considered for quarterly awards since they vote on the award recipient

After serving on the committee, they should not be asked to serve again for a minimum of five (5) years.

Continuity:

When a committee member has fulfilled their two-year appointment, they shall choose their successor by reviewing the classified employee staff list. Another part-time employee should replace the part-time representation.
