Professional/technical faculty must maintain a current teaching effectiveness plan. In addition to the TEP requirements specific to the college, professional/technical faculty must also address the requirements of professional/technical certification as outlined in WAC 131-16-094. These rules apply to tenured faculty and part-time faculty teaching at least two-thirds time for three quarters each year.
Probationary faculty are automatically certified for three years, but should take steps to earn PDUs in order to maintain certification. PDUs earned by probationary faculty are used for the purpose of professional/technical certification only and not for advancement on the salary scale.
At a minimum, the professional/technical teaching effectiveness plan should address:
- Student instruction
- Supervising learning environments
- Implementing curriculum, outcomes, and assessments
The professional/technical teaching effectiveness plan should link directly to teaching outcomes as described in theWashington State Skills Standards for Professional Technical Instructors.
While the LCCFAHE contract requires a three-year teaching effectiveness plan, WAC 131-16-094 requires that professional/technical faculty have a five-year plan in place.
