If you plan to earn a degree or certificate or transfer to a four-year institution, LCC needs to assess your skill level before you register for classes.

LCC uses the COMPASS testing system for assessment. If you are not taking your placement at LCC, it is your responsibility to request and deliver placement results to LCC.

Fee: $17.00

If you have taken a placement assessment at LCC or a different college within the last two years, you may use it. If the assessment was done at a different college, please submit a copy to LCC Advising and Testing.

Use the COMPASS Placement Assessment Scores document to determine LCC's placement recommendations. LCC does not honor recommendations of other colleges.

If you need to place into a higher level than your scores indicate, you may retake the tests once and appeal to the Director of Advising and Testing.
