LCC's Forensics program has established the annual Steelhead and Smelt Classics, bringing competing teams of high school and college students to the campus from throughout the Northwest.

About Us
LCC has a strong and successful Forensic program. Members participate in regional and individual contests, enjoying success against two-year and four-year schools alike.

The program is affiliated with Phi Rho Pi, the National Forensics Society.

A number of scholarships are open for interested students.

  • 36th Annual Steelhead Classic High School Speech Tournament, LCC, January 30-31 2009.
  • 36th Annual Smelt Classic College Speech Tournament LCC, November 2008.
  • Tournament of the Great West, LCC, March 2008, together with 16 other Northwest colleges and universities. LCC tied for First Place in Overall Sweepstakes, and received a Superior Award for Debate, and a Good Award for Individual Events.
  • Northwest Forensics Conference Speech And Debate Tournament
    LCC, March 2008, Forensics Team won the third place Community College Award.
