The esports industry – and collegiate landscape – is growing exponentially. Lower Columbia College is committed to staying on the cutting edge of development, forming the best competitive gaming experience.
Adapted from GHC Esports, we do this through the following four pillars; competition, practice, behavior, and community.
COMPETITION: We provide the structure and resources for student gamers to participate in national leagues such as NJCAAE, NECC, and other tournament avenues. Regular competition is the bread and butter of esports.
PRACTICE: We firmly believe that the best way to get better at something is to practice doing it consistently. With a dedicated facility, staff, weekly scrims, professional coaching, and a reliable team, our players can go deeper into their game.
BEHAVIOR: Good sporting behavior is essential. Trash talking is discouraged and toxic behaviors like rage quitting, sending forfeits in the game or toxic chat are not allowed. Players highlight positive plays or attributes, and focusing on poor performance - either on their team or the opponent - is only used for competitive analysis, and never for attacking character.
COMMUNITY: Partnering with our community, local schools, and peer institutions. We will work with local businesses for sponsors and represent products and services we can be proud of. We will foster connecting with students and our community through gaming.
