The International Programs Office held the Childhood Games Activity during Spring Break! This event was held to welcome the new international student and for all international students to get to know each other. In this blog, you’ll see some pictures of this event!
We played five different games: a BINGO icebreaker, musical chairs, pass the bomb, human knot, and balloon carry race. Some games were familiar to students, some were new for them, and we saw their smiles, like kids!!

BINGO Icebreaker
For the BINGO icebreaker, we provided everyone with a bingo board with questions. These were ‘get-to-know-you’ type questions. Students had to ask each other questions, talking to a different person with each question. Many students got 3 or 4 bingos, but one student got all!

Musical Chairs
When we played musical chairs, everyone was so focused on being a winner. Some walked so slowly, some walked so fast, to increase their chances of getting the chairs. For tho
Pass the Bomb
Pass the bomb is the same game as the Hot Potato game, known in the United States. In Japan, we call it "pass the bomb"-instead of "hot potato," we pass the bomb. The student who got the bomb at the time limit shared what they like to do and their favorite spot in Longview.

Human Knot
In this game, the students formed a circle, grabbed the hands of two opposite participants, and then untangled the resulting jumble without ever loosening their grip. Everyone was cooperating to untangle the knot. Our palms were so sweaty, but that is proof of our hard work! It was so complicated to untangle, but we eventually did it!
Balloon Carry Race
The last game we played was a balloon carry race. The Balloon Carry Race was a competitive activity where students worked hard to carry balloons without dropping them. They showed great teamwork throughout the game!

These activities helped create a fun and supportive environment where everyone could connect. By playing both familiar and new games, everyone had the chance to communicate and build teamwork skills. We definitely should do an outside version of this activity next time! Thank you for reading to the end.
