On May 30th, the International Festival was held at LCC. This is a local event held by the Ethnic Support Council every year to celebrate the community's cultural diversity. In this blog, you can see what it looks like, and hopefully you can join this event next year!
There were a lot of performers representing several countries. Many performers were dancing and singing, and I could see the audience’s smiles and enjoyment. When I went there, Vietnamese performers in red costumes were performing their national dance. That was my first time seeing a Vietnamese dance, and I was so impressed that they used traditional Vietnamese hats (Nón Lá) to create beautiful shapes while dancing.
Outside, Lower Columbia School Gardens provided free plants, seeds, and homemade pizza using vegetables from their garden! Their pizza had edible flowers, some herbs, and cheese on top, and surprisingly, they made it from the pizza dough. It was so tasty! On the way back home, I got a Sungold tomato plant. It’s been 2 weeks since I got it, and it’s kept growing with some small green young tomatoes! I am so excited to eat them soon.
The International Festival reminds us how many different cultures are part of our community. From the colorful performances to the garden activities, the event was full of connection.
