As September begins, temperatures in Washington State drop, the leaves begin to change color, and a pleasant autumn arrives. There are many fall activities to enjoy in the U.S., so I introduce five of them in this blog!
Spirit Halloween is a pop-up store that appears only during the Halloween season, approximately September through October. You will find a wide variety of fun and spooky items, such as costumes and Halloween decorations. The store is decorated with a Halloween theme, so you can enjoy the atmosphere too!

On Halloween, children dress up in costumes and go door to door saying, “Trick or treat!” Neighbors give candy, and the children fill their bags with treats! International students also dressed up and enjoyed a Halloween party.

A pumpkin patch is a place that sells pumpkins for a limited time during the fall season. It is where you can pick your own pumpkin to purchase. Some locations also feature areas where you can interact with animals and appeal not only to young people but also to families. Visiting a pumpkin patch is a very common U.S. experience.

A corn maze is a giant maze made of cornstalks that you can enjoy only during the fall months. Depending on the place, mazes come in various types, such as stamp rallies, “night mazes” where you navigate with a flashlight, and “haunted mazes” during Halloween season. Many are held at the same locations as pumpkin patches!

It is a traditional event celebrated every year on November 1 and 2 in Mexico and other Latin American countries, during which people welcome the spirits of deceased family members and friends to spend time with them. Although this is not an American tradition, many people in the U.S. have Mexican or Latinx roots, so Día de los Muertos events and decorations are common in the U.S. as well.

All the activities I have introduced here are unique to the U.S. If you visit the U.S. in the fall, I hope you can use this blog as a guide and try out some of these fall-exclusive activities! Thank you for reading to the end!
