Lower Columbia College (LCC) President Chris Bailey announced his retirement effective January 1, 2024 during the college’s Board of Trustees meeting on May 17, 2023.
President Bailey began his tenure at LCC in 2011, following the retirement of Dr. Jim McLaughlin. A few highlights of the college’s accomplishments over the last 12 years include development of the Lower Columbia Regional University Center, creation of the college’s first two Bachelor of Applied Science degrees, and growth of the LCC Foundation’s assets including the endowed Student Success Fund.
The college’s physical infrastructure was also substantially enhanced during that time. The new Health and Science Building opened in 2013, the remodel of the Stoller Gym and Fitness Center was completed in 2015, and the redesigned Main Building opened in 2019. Although not funded in the 2023 legislative session, it is anticipated that the college will break ground on the proposed new Vocational Building within the next few years.
The LCC Board of Trustees will determine next steps for seeking President Bailey’s replacement.
