Congrats to the Red Devils!
The Lower Columbia College baseball team made us proud over the weekend by capturing
the 2026 NWAC Baseball Championship on Monday. LCC defeated Linn-Benton 5-1 and then
Lane 12-2 to take the title.
It's the 16th NWAC baseball championship for LCC, most in conference history. The
young men did a great job and represented our campus community well!
Speaking of the campus community, I want to offer thanks and appreciation for all
of the people who helped make the tournament a success. The employees of campus services
were tremendous and they worked hard to get the facility ready. The staff of LCC Security
were there and available at a moment's notice. The athletics department, always a
family ready to help, were great and they worked very hard over the many hours of
the tournament. Special shout out to Josh Smith, Mike Callia, Traci Hilligoss and
Justin Ford. Nolan Wheeler led the way with support and was in attendance at many
games cheering on the Red Devils. The coaches of all the LCC sports were there to
volunteer their time for the greater good. To the students and staff who attended,
thank you for the support! The community volunteers stepped up again to make this
the best tournament in the NWAC!
The LCC coaching staff of Kurt Lupinski, Callia, Jackson Horner and Alex Brady worked
so hard to coach the team as well as maintain the field and stadium. It is a yeoman's
effort to lead the team and work all the hours to make it happen!
Last, but not least, the LCC student/athletes showed championship teamwork, talent,
character and class. The event is for them and they made it a lasting memory!
Thanks to all! Hail to the champions from Lower Columbia College!
