Remembering Dr. Courtney Shah

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Dr. Courtney Shah, beloved History instructor and cherished member of the LCC family. On July 22nd, Courtney left us peacefully at home after courageously battling brain cancer.

Courtney’s influence at LCC and throughout Longview was extraordinary. She had a rare talent for making history come alive, igniting curiosity and passion in every student she taught. Her classroom was a place where every voice mattered, and her warmth and humor made learning unforgettable.
Outside the classroom, Courtney’s love for community shone brightly. Whether leading spirited trivia nights or sparking meaningful conversations through the Community Conversations series, she brought people together and inspired us to think deeply and connect authentically.

In 2025, a student nomination for Faculty of the Year captured what so many of us felt: Courtney’s brilliance, kindness, and respect for others changed lives. Her legacy of compassion, curiosity, and community will continue to guide and inspire us all.
 
A service to remember Courtney will be held on Monday, August 10, from 1:00 to 3:30 pm in the Rose Center for the Arts at LCC. We hope those who are able will join us in remembering and celebrating her life.
