Overview

A degree in art is a preparation for continued training in fine arts fields such as illustration, graphic design, photography, media, animation, cinematography, gallery management and more.

A degree is communications is preparation for continued training in journalism, marketing, public relations, technical writing and social science fields. A bachelor's degree in English is also sufficient for many entry level positions in business and industry.

Students may select beginning and advanced courses in a variety of artistic media, including drawing, painting, photography, ceramics and pottery. A solid base in studio art combined with art history provides the basic liberal arts foundation essential for those interested in entering an art profession or transferring to complete a bachelor's degree in art.

The speech program provides general education courses that assist students in improving communication skills and their understanding of communication. Credit and advanced skills may also be earned by participating in LCC's intercollegiate Speech & Debate Team.
