All full-time faculty are expected to participate in Global Skills Assessment either by contributing artifacts or serving as a participant in one of our Summer Assessment Institutes. Institute participants are selected through a competitive application process that happens in spring quarter. Both full- and part-time faculty are eligible to apply.
Artifacts are collected in fall, winter and spring quarters, and the annual week-long Assessment Institute is held in July or August (depending on availability of faculty participants). One Global Skills is assessed each year, so a complete assessment cycle takes four years. See the Master Instructional Assessment Timeline for more information.
The Global Skills and associated rubrics are available in the LCC catalog and on the website. Rubrics, summer institute reports and associated resources are available on our internal (faculty and staff) website under Global Skills Assessment.
With guidance from the Instructional Assessment Committee, participants in the summer institute work toward a shared understanding and interpretation of the Global Skills outcomes as they apply the faculty-developed rubrics to the artifacts collected each year.
