Hi, I'm Jake Laes. I'm a Running Start student from Kelso high school, and I'll be your Vice President of Student Affairs this year.
This will be my second year at LCC and my senior year of high school. I'm born and raised here in Cowlitz County, though I've moved around through several different school districts. My hobbies pretty much all revolve around the outdoors. I love surfing, hunting, fishing, hiking, and photography. I swam competitively for four years on both my high school and club teams as well as competing for the Kelso High Cross Country team my freshman and sophomore years.
My academic passions include most of the sciences with a specific interest in biotechnology and biomedicine, which I plan to pursue through college and beyond. I am also the founder and President of the Undergraduate Research Club on campus and the Vice President of Leadership for the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Gamma Tau chapter. I always enjoy playing my guitars as well as bass, drums, and piano.
Right now I'm working towards my transfer degree in hopes of stepping up to an elite research university to pursue biology. Besides academics, my goal for my time this year at LCC is to connect with a broad range of our students here be it in classes or on campus. I am committed (and I hope you are too) to make our campus community the best it's ever been.
Please feel free to contact me at any time.
