Student and community musicians with strong performance and music reading skills may audition to join Jazz Ensemble.

Students enroll for credit in MUSC 130 (2 credits). Community musicians enroll via LCC Continuing Education. The LCC Jazz Ensemble performs at the end of each quarter.


Audition Requirements

A brief audition and interview are required for entry. Trumpet, trombone, all saxophones, drum, bass, and guitar players with strong musical skills and good music reading abilities are encouraged to audition.

Audition materials

  • Two-octave scale of your choice,
  • Two short contrasting pieces (may be études, parts of solos, etc.)
  • Sight reading and improvisation (at the discretion of the director)

About the Music Program

LCC choirs and bands perform in a concert at the end of each quarter to showcase their musical talents for friends, family and musical patrons from the community. Additional opportunities exist throughout the year for campus performances, including the LCC summer musical production.

LCC's traditional choir performs a holiday concert, a traditional choral concert, and a musical revue concert each year.

LCC's song and dance choir focuses on jazz and musical theatre repertoire.

Jazz Band

Fast-paced and soulful compositions that spotlight the sounds of every instrument in this energetic band foster the musical talents of LCC performers while drawing appreciative applause at concerts and community events.

Symphonic Band

Gain large ensemble experience while performing with long-time musicians from the community and top young performers building their skills.
