Tia Verhasselt Wins WSU-V Community College President’s Award

Tia is pursuing an education and career in healthcare. She earned an Associate of Nursing with honors through LCC with a cumulative GPA of 3.56. Tia will be transferring to WSU to complete her bachelor's in nursing and to begin pre-medical courses.

In addition to being an excellent student, Tia has been extremely involved on and off campus. She served as an acting representative and president of LCC Student Nursing Organization while participating in the nursing program. Tia also volunteered for the LCC Blood Pressure Clinic and the annual Health Fair held on campus. Outside of LCC, Tia also volunteers with Cowlitz County CASA as a Court Appointed Special Advocate and completed a ten-month service assignment with AmeriCorps FEMA Corps traveling through the Eastern United States.

Tia also acted as the Student Nursing Organization representative for her nursing cohort and was a Student Faculty Representative for the nursing program. In addition, Tia served as the Pinning Ceremony Coordinator during her final quarter in the nursing program and was the student selected by nursing faculty to receive the 2020 Nursing Excellence Award.
