Each quarter is approximately three months, so dividing the quarterly fee by three works out to just $6.67 per month (approximately the cost of a cup of coffee and a doughnut). This is substantially less than any other fitness facility in the area.
The Center is open from 6 am to 7 pm. Monday through Thursday, from 6 am to 3 pm on Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 5 pm on Saturday (hours are subject to change based on demand).
Students who do not pay fees (such as those enrolled in ABE and ESL) can use the Center if they pay the equivalent of the quarterly fee.
Faculty and Staff who want to use the Center will pay at least as much as the student fee.
Any revenue collected through operational fees in excess of $300,000 per year will be applied toward the loan LCC took out to pay for construction costs (supported through a Fitness Center construction fee passed by students several years ago).
There will be three student representatives on the College’s Fitness Center Advisory Committee to ensure that student voices are heard regarding operation of the Center.
Student fees, including the proposed Fitness Center fee, are covered by Financial Aid for eligible students. Any membership costs paid separately (not included in student fees) would have to be paid out-of-pocket.
