Medical Assisting Program Applications will be accepted throughout the month of March, 2018. The application form can be downloaded and printed by clicking the link below. Hard copies are available in the Health & Science Building. See the wall display on the second floor near the elevator. Please see application form for more information.

For specific degree requirements click the above button. Select the 'Medical Assisting' tab, then click on the Program Planner for the degree or certificate you are interested in.

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion (or Spring 2018 enrollment) of required prerequisite courses, each with a grade of C (2.0) or above: MATH 105, AH 114, and ENGL 99 or placement into ENGL& 101
  • Minimum cumulative grade point of C (2.0) or above
  • Applicants' transcripts will be scored as shown on the application, and ranked by score.
  • If interviews are necessary (because of a high number of applicants), candidates will then be selected for interviews based on this ranking.
  • If interviews are necessary, a representative of the Nursing and Allied Health Department will phone applicants by April 6, 2018 to schedule interviews.
  • Interviews will be conducted the weeks of April 9 and April 16, 2018.
  • Candidates will receive selection results via US Postal Service by May 1 (sooner, if no interviews).
  • Candidates must verify acceptance by a predetermined date, or the acceptance will be forfeited and the candidate will lose cohort placement.  (USPS is the only way we will notify candidates of their acceptance.)
  • Scoring method: (number of credits) x (course grade) = score
  • Example: B- in MEDA 101...(3 credits for MEDA 101) x (2.7 for B-) = 11.1 points
  • Since CS 110 is a 3 credit course and BTEC 145 is 5 credits, BTEC 145 credits will be limited to 3 for scoring purposes
  • Support courses eligible for scoring: ENGL& 101, PSCY& 100, CS 110 (or equivalent), MEDA 101 (or BTEC 181), MEDA 102 (or BTEC 182), MEDA 120, MEDA 122, BTEC 171, and BTEC 172
  • Spring 2018 courses will not be scored
