Through referral from the Department of Social and Health Services, the WorkFirst program supports parents receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). WorkFirst provides low-income families with stability and a path toward self-sufficiency. Participants receive additional guidance and aid while they are attending a vocational or basic skills program.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must have a program plan and sub-plan in ctcLink.
  • Must be a current recipient of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).

You can apply for BFET along with any other Workforce Education program using the Universal Application procedure below:

   Important Note: Support is is only available as funding allows. Washington State requires all parents receiving WorkFirst to participate in a work-like activity to receive their cash grant.
