  Important Information for Graduates and Guests

  Friday, June 15, 2018, 6:30 pm, Kelso High School Schroeder Field

Address: 1904 Allen Street in Kelso, Washington.

You may invite as many guests as you wish. Gates open for seating at 5 pm. All guests should arrive prior to 6 pm. The ceremony begins at 6:30 pm.

Please do not bring pets unless they are recognized by Washington State law as service animals. Emotional support animals do not qualify.

Strollers must be left outside the stadium.

Associate Degree and Certificate of Proficiency Graduates

  • Students who graduated with an Associate Degree or Certificate of Proficiency during the previous Summer, Fall or Winter quarters.
  • Students who will graduate with an Associate Degree or Certificate of Proficiency in Spring quarter.
  • Students who will graduate under the Summer Completion Option. This option available to students who will complete an Associate degree or the Medical Assisting program during summer quarter. To be eligible, students must apply for graduation by the posted graduation application deadline for Spring quarter.
  • All students listed above must apply for graduation by the posted graduation application deadline.

High School Diploma and GED Graduates

  • Students who have completed a high school diploma or GED certificate.

Pick up your Cap and Gown

Pick up your cap and gown at the Diversity & Equity Center located on the second floor of the Student Center on these dates:

  June 11 - 14, 9 am - 5 pm

  June 15, 9 am - 1 pm

Graduates who have earned an Associate Degree with a GPA of 3.5 or above will receive an honor cord. Veteran graduates will receive their military cord.

Attend Mandatory Commencement Rehearsal

Rehearsals held on the LCC campus in the Rose Center for the Arts, Wollenberg Auditorium.

Select one of the rehearsal times below.

  June 11, 11 am - 12 noon

  June 15, 10 - 11 am

Graduates will receive a commencement gift!

Arrive at the dressing area in Kelso High School South Gym at 5 pm

Follow the signage. Only graduating students will be allowed in the South Gym, so please advise your guests and family accordingly. (Bringing valuables is not recommended i.e. purses/wallets.) Restrooms are located in the main building (turn left as you exit the gym to locate restrooms).

Check in at the table marked with the first letter of your last name to pick up and fill out your name card. 

Name cards will be used to announce your name during the commencement ceremony. Write down how you want your name announced. If the pronunciation of any party of your name is a challenge, write the name phonetically.

  • Example: Mike Lapic (Phonetically: Mike LAY-PICK)

Please complete the back of the name card; it's how the photographer will contact you about your pictures.

LCC staff will assist you with lining up in processional order. The ceremony takes place outside regardless of weather, so please dress appropriately. Tassels go on your right prior to graduation; you will be instructed during the ceremony to move it to the left to indicate you have graduated.

Only GED & High School Completion students need to return their (BLUE) gowns to the South Gym when the ceremony is over. All others may keep their (RED) gowns.

Allow adequate time for parking and walking to the gym

Parking will be congested!

Parking available at Kelso High School, Coweeman Middle School, St. Mary's Church, and Tam O-Shanter Park (south of stadium).

LCC contracts with GradImages to take professional photographs of each graduate during Commencement.

Pre-Register for your Commencement Photography

You are encouraged to pre-register ahead of time at

You'll need to provide contact information, either email or mailing address, to receive photo proofs and instructions on how to purchase copies.

Alternatively graduates may pre-register with GradImages at the ceremony.

Candid photos of the ceremony taken by LCC will also be posted on a few weeks after the ceremony. These photos may be downloaded, printed and shared via email and social media.

Join the Lower Columbia College Alumni Association

Graduates and their families and guests are invited to attend an Alumni Reception in the quad area outside the stadium immediately following Commencement.

All graduates* are eligible for membership in the Alumni Association. Membership forms will be available along with refreshments.
