Lower Columbia College recognizes academic credits and degrees earned at institutions outside of the United States that are equivalent in academic level and nature to work offered at LCC.

If you completed coursework or a degree outside the US, you may need to provide a foreign transcript evaluation to:

  1. Prove that you have completed the equivalent of a US high school diploma in order to receive financial aid at LCC, OR
  2. Receive transfer credit for individual courses completed at a foreign institution.

How to Obtain Proof of International High School Completion for Financial Aid

If you are seeking a confirmation of high school equivalency, you will only be required to obtain a document-by-document evaluation. You can use any evaluation service that is a NACES member. A list of members is available at www.naces.org. From the homepage select “Evaluation Services.”

How to Request a Foreign Transcript Evaluation to Receive Transfer Credit

A course-by-course evaluation is required before college courses you completed outside the US can be reviewed for transfer credit. If your foreign coursework is evaluated to be equivalent to LCC coursework, you may receive transfer credit for individual LCC classes, or generic credit in a subject area, or elective credit. This transfer credit may be used to fulfill the requirements of your program at LCC.

Before these documents can be considered for credit, complete the following steps:

Step 1:

Apply for LCC admission

You must apply for admission to Lower Columbia College before requesting a foreign transcript evaluation. If you possess a student visa, contact the International Programs Office at 360-442-2310 for application procedures.

Step 2:

Submit a foreign transcript evaluation from an approved evaluation agency

We require a full course-by-course evaluation of your foreign transcripts. You can use any evaluation service that is a NACES member. A list of members is available at www.naces.org. From the homepage select “Evaluation Services.”

The fees involved vary for each company, but usually range from $200 to $275. Contact the service directly with any questions regarding fees or required documentation.
