Lower Columbia College is subject to the provisions of the Washington state public disclosure laws governing access to public records and will respond accordingly. There may be exemptions to disclosure that prohibit the college from releasing certain documents.
The statutes governing public records can be found on the Washington State Legislature website under Chapter 42.56 RCW: Public Records Act or Chapter 132M-110 WAC: Public Records Disclosure Policy
Make a Public Records Request
The Public Records Act requires that records requested be "identifiable". A general question is not a public records request. The Act also lists certain public records that do not have to be disclosed.
For us to respond as quickly as possible, please be specific about the records you are requesting. We also need to know how to contact you if we have questions, and where to send the records. Please complete the following form (both pages) and submit to Public Records Officer (see below) by email, fax, or in person.
Public Records Request Form (pdf)
Please include the following:
- Requesters name, complete mailing address, phone and fax number
- Date and time of request
- Specific nature of the request, including:
- Description of requested records (title, subject, date, policy, etc.)
- Purpose of the request
- Number of copies needed
Copy Charges
Please note that copying charges may apply. However, you may choose to review the records at no charge at a pre-approved appointment, instead of receiving copies. If you prefer to review the records, please note this on your request.
Records Index
The college does not possess 1) records issued before July 1, 1990 for which the college maintained an index, 2) declaratory orders, or interpretive statements. Any final orders in the college's records would occur in student conduct cases and are therefore exempt from disclosure under FERPA, 20 U.S.C. 1232g. Policy statements for the college can be found here:
