How to use Navigate in your day-to-day advising.

Appointment Scheduling

This should be done via:

  • Navigate
  • Kiosk
  • Reception staff

Requirements:

  • Set up availability in Navigate. If you are not taking appointments, you need to put “Drop Ins” in your Navigate Availability.
  • Frequently monitor Outlook calendar for appointments scheduled.

Preparing for an Appointment

Review student profile in advance of appointment:

  • Log in to Navigate
  • Find the student via the upcoming appointments section on the homepage
    OR
  • Search for the student's ID number or name in the quick search bar

Requirements:

  • “Overview” tab
  • “Reports/Notes” tab
  • Path Items (entry advising)

Optional:

  • Message student via email or text if they need to prepare or bring additional materials to appointment.


Meeting Icon

Meet with Student

Add things to discuss during an appointment:

  • Review career plan
  • Barriers
  • Review academic plan
  • Discuss resources
  • Agree on next steps

Requirements:

  • Please review the students’ path during each advising appointment to ensure they are not overlooking key enrollment steps.


Follow-up Icon

Appointment Follow-Up

Complete advising summary report immediately following each advising appointment.

  • Fill out applicable comment boxes
  • Send Next Steps to students
  • Schedule follow-up appointment (if needed)
