LCC building for a better future: New projects and campus updates

On this page, you will find highlights of our latest capital developments, system enhancements, and modernization efforts designed to
elevate our campus environment and support student success.
As we enter the 2026–2027 academic year, several major improvements are kicking off
across campus. These projects are scheduled to run through 2027. Timelines may vary
depending on material lead times, weather, and site conditions.
Current Capital Projects, Athletics and Campus Safety
Before diving into minor renovations, here is where you can track our ongoing major
developments:

To enhance night-time safety and pedestrian visibility, additional LED lighting is being installed along key campus pathways, starting with the south side of Applied Arts.
Building-by-Building Renovations and Upgrades

Steam radiators (Rooms 101–129) are being replaced with modern electric heaters.

Select classrooms will receive fresh paint and new carpeting.

Exterior painting is scheduled for the building facade.

Beginning September 8, old fiberglass sun shades on the south side will be removed (work area fencing is already installed).

A new boiler is being installed in the mechanical room to replace the legacy steam heat system.

Note: Due to supply chain lead times, the boiler arrives in December. ADC and AAR may feel cooler than usual this fall—temporary heating units will be supplied by Maintenance.

Comprehensive fire system upgrades include replacing existing horns and strobes with speaker-equipped devices.

A new building-wide fire alarm panel with emergency voice evacuation is being installed.
- The lower roof section above the Ceramics Lab is being completely replaced starting mid-September, including removal of the old membrane and insulation.
- Contractor crews are installing upgraded electronic access-control equipment on exterior doors throughout both facilities.

Second-floor fire doors leading into Student Government are being replaced with minimal service impact.

The second-floor mechanical room's end-of-life hot water tank is being replaced.

Building Controls: Systems across campus are being upgraded to the Metasys management platform for enhanced energy efficiency and central monitoring.

Sewage Lift Station: Replacing 20-year-old floats and pumps to extend operating life and guarantee campus service reliability.
Safety Measures and Expectations
The safety of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors is our highest priority.
To keep you and others safe, adhere to the following safety measures while on campus:

Respect Barriers: Do not enter fenced, barricaded, or restricted zones under any circumstances.

Follow Signage: Obey all posted detours, caution signs, and instructions from contractors or Campus Safety.

Stay Clear: Exercise extra caution around overhead work, roofing zones, and heavy machinery.

Report Issues: Immediately report any unsafe conditions to Campus Services or Safety and Security.
- Plan ahead: Keep up to date and plan ahead for your classes and/or travel around campus, parking, and projects with the LCC Parking page.
Temporary service or access interruptions will occur. Additional notices will be issued
